About G. Whiz Educational Resources

G. Whiz Educational Resources is a small company that specializes in age-appropriate materials for upper elementary, middle, and secondary school children with learning disabilities, ADHD and dyslexia. Born of necessity, frustration, and determination, it was created by a real teacher to design materials for real students with very real needs that weren't being met by commercially available materials.

The idea first developed when I was teaching in a self-contained classroom in a public school. When my supervisor asked me to come up with spelling materials for a dyslexic 5th grade student, I said, "Sure, no problem." Because I had 8 students in 6 different reading groups and no aide, and all of them needed help understanding the directions in their workbooks (Sound familiar?), I designed the spelling sheets so that the student could work with a partner or independently. The results were spectacular. Not only for spelling, but he carried the lessons over to his reading and writing. And ta…da… Looking Glass Spelling was born.

G. Whiz Educational Resources was formed to market the spelling books, and while we did that, I started to formalize all the other neat programs and materials that I had designed and everybody kept borrowing from me. G. Whiz Educational Resources now includes
